Feghouli doesn't help anyone playing RB...or the back 3...

the boy needs time

hes certainly struggling

lets not write him off yet

El Scorchio 2:36 Tue Feb 7
Re: Byram
I wonder if Bilic was protecting him by leaving him out and the injury was just a bit of a bluff.

I expect the boy's confidence is a bit frail- he's taken a couple of hidings down his flank this season so far and getting torn to shreds by City can't have been good for him.

Re: Byram
What is with football fans, we hype promising youngsters so much & then throw them under the bus when they have a poor game, or get dominated by top players?

Stop it!

Re: Byram
Forget about City game. He was exposed against world class players. Give him time until end of season. He'll come good.

Re: Byram
The problem with the city game is that we played into their hands. They always press high and instead of us looking for outlets by playing the long ball we tried to play out from the back and they were simply too quick at closing us down.

This exposure of the defence v City.....maybe we can apportion some responsibility to our ponderous midfield ?

We've got very little left to play for this season.

Give the kid time and games. He may come good.

Re: Byram
You don't play tikki tikka football against Man City. you hit it long and put their defenders under pressure.

We did none of that. Stones had all the time in the world on the ball.

El Scorchio 12:44 Fri Feb 3
Re: Byram
I think Fonte looked slow because he was up against very quick players who used the full width of the pitch, leaving him and Reid with a lot of ground to cover.

We were 'out-tacticked' and overmatched by better and faster players. They did a superb job pulling the full backs really wide and exploiting the space which was created with their absolutely rapid forwards.

Re: Byram
Justin....

You're right about the exposure of Byram and the defence generally against Man City - defending is a team game like the rest of game; Fonte looked great for Southampton and slow for us because of the protection given him or missing.

Byram might do better at wing back - but better than Antonio? I don't think so and this is the thing. Bilic prefers to play 4-4-2 as it increases the team attacking capability - but he needs solid full backs to make it work. Norv + Antonio aren't solid enough, and I don't think Byram is yet. Tomkins was excellent and Jenkinson wasn't always bad, but water under bridge and all that...

Re: Byram
I'd like to see how he gets on in the right wingback role with Cress on the other side with three central defenders deployed?

I'm sure he'll come good, he just looks a little exposed as a right back at the moment especailly when he bombs forward and doesn't get back.

Re: Byram
Some of you lot are fucking minges.

We were rancid as a whole team, but Byram has been highlighted simply because of the nutmeg. He was up against Sane, who looks like he's coming into the world class category, he had a very tough night, but he had zero cover with that shit cunt flake in front of him, and the manager setting the team up all wrong.

Cresswell was much, much worse. Byram will go on to be an excellent player for us.

Re: Byram
As with Fonte, nobody should be judged on the City performance. How they respond to it. That's the test.

Lertie Button 7:19 Fri Feb 3
Re: Byram
Was he much worse than Cresswell given his age and lack of Premiership games?

Problem is there is no competition for full back so they know the odd shit performance doesn't matter

He'll be around and he'll be fine. The whole team met their match yesterday.
